Each term, the UNICEF club award a child from each class with a UNICEF certificate for demonstrating some of the rights from the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child. An example often used is Article 12 (respect for the views of the child). Every child has the right to express their views, feelings and wishes in all matters affecting them, and to have their views considered and taken seriously. This article is usually demonstrated during our P4C sessions/ PPPB discussions throughout each lesson.

A big well done to everyone who has received the award so far!

UN Convention on the Rights of the Child

“Rights" are things every child should have or be able to do. All children have the same rights.

These rights are listed in the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child (click the image to see in detail).

Almost every country has agreed to these rights.

All the rights are connected to each other, and all are equally important. Sometimes, we have to think about rights in terms of what is the best for children in a situation, and what is critical to life and protection from harm.

As you grow, you have more responsibility to make choices and exercise your rights.
