Quality Mark Award

We are delighted to announce that we have received that Quality Mark award for STM. This demonstrates our constant commitment to ensuring our pupils are making progress and improvements in their Mathematics and English skills. After a rigorous assessment was carried out following the '10 Elements', the assessor commented the following;

St Thomas More RC Primary School meets all ten elements of the Primary Quality Mark in English and mathematics. Teachers and support staff are passionate about providing the best possible learning opportunities for all pupils and are well informed about effective practice in the teaching of reading, writing and mathematics. Strengths noted during the virtual visit include: 

• Pupils achieving above well average outcomes by the end of each key stage in reading, writing and mathematics. 

• Robust assessment strategies with thorough tracking and effective moderation of teacher judgements.

• English and mathematics subject leaders who are clear about their development priorities. 

• A range of professional development opportunities for teachers and support staff to enhance their skills and develop their knowledge and understanding.

• The routine monitoring of learning with constructive feedback to staff.

• The sharing of best practice in English and mathematics within the school and with other schools in Bexley and in the South-East London Catholic Academy Trust.

• Well informed governors who challenge school leaders on a range of issues.

• Supportive parents who are knowledgeable about how to support their children with home learning.
